Hello everyone, yesterday was an exciting day for me. First I found out that I had been shortlisted into the Fotofilmic 14' competition. An international photography competition for film photography. I was selected in the second of three round's of the competition. This means my work will be featured on the Fotofilmic website over the next few months.
If you are a film photographer there is still time to submit. The next deadline for the final round of submissions is June 15. The final exhibition winers will be announced on June 30th. The final 30 photographers will have there work exhibited in Los Angeles, California, United States: Exhibition in August 2014 and Back Gallery Project in Vancouver, BC, Canada: Exhibition in September 2014.
I also received an email from a local art consulting firm that was interested in my work. After a few emails back and forward I am happy to say that I will be giving a formal presentation of my work to the entire firm later this month. Now all I have to do is finish this stinkin Bio! I am not one for talking about myself (as I write a blog about myself ;-) But I do see how a collector would want to know who you are as an artist and a little background about you. It helps them connect with you and ultimately the work.
Here is the selection of work that the firm asked me to bring in. Which was a first for me, usually when I have presented in the past they ask you too bring in work that you feel best represents you. It's actually kind of nice to have someone select for you. For one I don't have to worry about what to bring. I always have a hard time editing down the portfolio so it's nice to have someone do it for me. The other reason I like this is it means that they have spent time perusing my work. The fact that they have already spent enough time so make a selection is already quite a compliment.
I thought everyone might enjoy seeing what the firm selected so here it is.
So there you have it. Now I need to get busy printing.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported me and my work over the past few years. If you want to keep up with what I am working on currently just click on one of the links below.
